What happens at the Vigils:

 - Candles are lit (candles provided by Pleasantonians 4 Peace or you can bring your own)

 - Names of all American soldiers killed in the previous month are read
 
 - This is followed by a moment of silence

 - At the end of the moment of silence, Taps is played

 - Open discussion by all in attendance.

 - Occasionally followed by music/songs

     - Currently serving his second term on the Pleasanton City Council
     - Employed as an energy engineer
     - Former member of Pleasanton Planning Commission (1998-2004)
     - Active in city government since 1994
  • Fred Norman
     - Vietman-era veteran with 10 years of service in the Marines and the Air Force
     - Volunteers at The Crosses of Lafayette
     - Volunteers at the VA Hospital in Livermore
     - Member of Veterans for Peace
     - Regularly attends Pleasanton City Council meetings to address the issues of Pleasanton's role and responsibilities in the peace process
     - Poet
  • Cathe Norman
     - Retired school teacher
     - Active in issues related to education and teaching
     - Regularly attends Pleasanton City Council Meetings
     - Also volunteers at The Crosses of Lafayette
  • Steve Dowding
     - Vietnam-era veteran
     - Retired telecommunications technician and school teacher
  • Kathy Dowding
     - Retired from telecommunications industry
     - Regularly attends Pleasanton City Council meetings to read the names of those American soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
